Problem
IUPUI needed and additional parking garage at its campus in downtown Indianapolis. Parking Garage elevators face unique challenges. This particular garage was designed with the construction of additional floors possible in the future. The elevators needed to accommodate these plans as well. In addition, parking garage elevators must run in a variety of temperatures, and can have additional wear and tear due to vandalism and weather.
Our Solution
Murphy Elevator designed a duplex of 2 hydraulic elevators that run 150 feet per minute and 3500 pounds. The current travel is 45 feet, but can be expanded in the future to travel an additional 11 feet. Heavy duty vandal resistant buttons were utilized to hold up to abuse and weather conditions. This project was completed in 2010. The installation took 2 months.
